Information, short stories, interesting facts

The stained-glass windows above the main altar of the Visitation of Our Lady Church were made in the glass workshop of Miksa Róth - Siófok, Hungary The stained-glass windows above the main altar of the Visitation of Our Lady Church were made in the glass workshop of Miksa Róth

Miksa Róth was a world-famous Hungarian glass painter and mosaic artist, his artworks can be found worldwide. Good examples from Hungary are the ornate windows of the staircases and some corridors in the Hungarian Parliament Building ("Országház") in Budapest (however, unfortunately his painted windows on the dome of the building were destroyed). Worth to mention the Gresham Palace also in Budapest, or the Votive Church and Cathedral of Szeged. Outside Hungary there are works of him among others in the "Huis ten Bosch" royal palace in The Hague, Netherlands, or in the Fagerborg Church ("Fagerborg kirke") in Oslo, Norway, as well as in the "Villa Marsaglia" in Milan, Italy, and so on. For him the highest level of professional recognitions were the gold medals on the World's Fair (or World Exposition) of 1902 in Turin, Italy and on the World Expo of 1904 in St. Louis, United States.
